Clarion Collection® Hotel Fregatten

We were on a road trip visiting the west coast of Sweden and decided to try this hotel. We needed two rooms as we are five. We also had our dog with us. The hotel offers certain room where you can bring your dog, which we were happy to use. The rooms were abit outdated and warm in the summer heat. As there was no a/c, we needed to sleep with windows open. The proximity to the railway station was not a problem but could be heard. The hotel offers complimentary dinner service, which was nice. We could use the outdoor seating to have dinner with our dog nicely sleeping under the table. Breakfast was nice. All in all a nice establishment, centrally located in Varberg.

Well firstly a hotel is about sleeping and we had a good night's sleep. That said this was the first hotel visit we made as a family of four. The room that was a family room had a bed and bed sofa and considering the price the room was very good. The only downside was that the bathroom floor and especially the shower was very slippery. I spoke to a representative of the hotel and he said that it would be fixed so I hope it will. This hotel had an inclusive buffet when sleeping there and that is always nice. Considering the dish of the day that was not really for small children some consideration to this would have been appreciated but we never got any service regarding that issue and a children's dish would have been appreciated considering that a parents day is basically ruined if the children can't get something to eat..we solved it with bread and butter. The best part of this hotel must anyway be the breakfast, they have got a really good breakfast buffet that included just about everything you could want for breakfast. They even had some things that weren't breakfast that was perfect for the small ones so that was much appreciated. As I told the hotel having some meatballs or pancakes would have been perfect for an evening meal for the small ones. All consideration taken fought off I would think that any family of four would get a good stay here and the only set back would be the evening meal for children (toddlers) and the slippery floor in the shower.

Vi stayed at the hotel during Christmas 2021. The hotel was nice. Apparently some of the rooms does not have a window. So beware of that when you book. The room was nice. The hotel has fitness access, which was great. The RELAX area, was basically 1 sauna and 1 bubble bath, which was nice if you were a couple of people. Unfortunately we ran into a party of 8 people, and there was no room for us. So We had to leave again. The restaurant: our deal included breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was Plain. The bread was cold and industrialbaked. There were hvede, jam, a little friut, eggs, bacon and pancake. It was ok, but not very interesting. The dinner was boring. First night (the 23. Of December) they served 2 dishes: a tomato soup and a stew. It was ok, but pretty plain. There was no serving. It was a cafeteria-like restaurant. With a buffet. The 2. Night (Christmas Eve) they served, what I assume is traditional Swedish Christmas dinner, with mostly cold dishes. Herring, eggs, salmon. Another salmon, another herring. A couple of traditional Swedish dishes. cheese. Salat. Bread. The 3. Night (the 25. Of December) they served leftovers. The exact same diner as the night before. I never tried that. At hotel. Leftovers. I was boring and sad, eating leftovers at a hotel for Christmas. The hotel also had an all day coffee machine, and in the afternoon there was cake. That part was pretty good. All in all we had a nice stay. The staff was friendly and the hotel was nice.

Lovely to arrive the reception with our two dogs, a short walk and then coffee and cakes. up on the room, having a before dinner drink. the evenings dinner is simple but so tasty and enough. the nature is nice and you can walk easy and safety long distances at the coast side. breakfast is just what we need. nice and warm atmosphere and always super service, we can highly recommend you to visit Fregatten when you have time.

This hotel is situated next to the station and just a short walk from the city centre. Looks quite boring from the outside, but is quite nice on the inside. Staff working at the reception are superfriendly and make guests feel welcome. We chose to pay extra for an upgrade, so we got a room in the corner. Quite big and with nice furniture. Clean room and great beds. The ony problem was that the ac did not work during our stay, staff said they were waiting from spare parts in Germany. Promised us to bring a fan, which never happened. Breakfast is basic, but good. So is the dinner, which is included in the price. Overall, a good choice for the price paid
